The movie is the retelling of the story of Krishna, where he gets born into a civilisation that worships him as if he were a human. However, Krishna is not happy with this and convinces his parents to abandon it all together in favor of finding their true Dharma. They are given shelter by the seer Vasudeva, but they must learn to live without luxuries until they can make it back home. The movie was shown in the Marché du Film section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival where it was received positively. It has also won the Best Feature Film Award at the 2015 Indian Movie Awards and Best Digital Movie Award at the 10th IIFA Utsavam awards. The film was released worldwide on 27 March 2016.
A sequel to this film, titled "Guru" is set to be released in 2020.
